Jyl Dejong - CVPM, Practice Manager:

Jyl started her tenure with the Altoona/Hubbell family in 2004. In addition to all of her responsibilities at work, Jyl is the busy mother of 5 kids with husband Chad; Luka, Kolton, Brody, Gavin, and Adeline along with Jake the dog. She spends her “free time” keeping up with the kids’ activities and volunteering in her community whenever possible. Their family enjoys staying active playing sports and going boating during the summer. The best part of her job is “the great co-workers and getting to know all our clients over the years.”

 

Roxane Kohlof, RVT Head Technician

Katie Liggins, RVT:

Katie obtained her veterinary technician degree at Kirkwood Community College and, after a stint as a technician at ISU, joined the Altoona family in 2006. Katie keeps busy at home with husband (Fred), daughters (Kaylee and Spencer), Willow the dog, Butterfly Handsome the cat, and Quilliam Shakespeare the hedgehog. Katie excels at client education and enjoys building relationships with the clients and their pets. Her personal interests at work include nutrition, behavior, and anesthesia.

 

Joel Kaufman, RVT:

Joel graduated from DMACC and joined us in 2017. He enjoys getting to know the clients and their pets and helping them have long healthy lives together. When he was younger, he enjoyed working with animals for 4-H projects. 

 

Danielle Holzmueller, RVT:

Danielle is a graduate of DMACC veterinary technology program and began her tenure with Altoona Veterinary Hospital in 2015. She and her husband, Nick, enjoy time at home with their cat, Max. Though she lives here in Iowa, she is a fan of The Ohio State and San Francisco 49ers. She is affectionately known at work as the "crazy cat lady with only 1 cat."

Alejandra Hernandez, Animal Caretaker:

Alejandra started out as an animal caretaker in 2017 and gas since transitioned into a role helping in exam rooms and treatment area as a tech assistant. Being able to be close to animals and enjoying having great co-workers are parts of the job she likes best. She currently has one dog, Coffee, of her own to keep her company at home and hopes to eventually train to be a certified veterinary technician. 

 

Morgan Malaney, Animal Caretaker

Morgan began as a kennel attendant in 2016, but has since begun helping in exam rooms as a technician assistant. She has 2 dogs to keep her company at home, Duke and Smallz. The chance to help care for animals and the opportunities to learn more about veterinary medicine are what she enjoys best about her job. She someday hopes to become a veterinarian, "just like Dr. Morrissey."

 

Jayna McGrann, Receptionist:

Jayna began her tenure with us in 2012 as a kennel attendant. She quickly became proficient in the role of technician assistant and is presently serving as one of our Directors of First Impressions….or receptionist as some might call it. Jayna’s desire to go the extra mile has endeared her to our clients and her fellow staff members alike. When Jayna isn’t found at work greeting clients and answering phones, she enjoys spending time with her nephew, Mason and dog, Bella.
